Pepper Chicken Recipe | How to Make Pepper Chicken Masala

Pepper Chicken
Pepper Chicken is one of the spicy and mouthwatering dish made from Pepper and other spices. I have used coconut milk too. This gives special flavour to it. It is just awesome awesome. I tried many times making this dish but somehow I was not happy with result. But after making so many trials , finally i got it. It was just perfect for me :). Best part is , it goes with rice as well as roti/chapati. Here it goes :)..

Pepper Chicken

Ingredients:

Marination:
400-500 gms Chicken cut into medium pieces
1 tsp Black Pepper(crushed)
1 Tbsp Lemon juice
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
Pinch of Salt

Masala:
2 medium Onion
1 medium Tomato
1 tsp chopped Ginger
1 tsp chopped Garlic
2 Springs Curry leaves
2 Green Chilli slit lengthwise
2 tsp Fennel Seeds
1.5 Tbsp Black Pepper whole
1 tsp Garam masala or Chicken Masala
1/4 cup Coconut Milk(Optional)
2 tbsp Oil
Salt to taste

Method:
1.In bowl marinate Chicken Pieces with ingredients under marination for 30 minutes or more.

2.Crush whole Pepper and powder the Fennel seeds and make coconut milk and  keep aside.

3.Chop Onion, Tomato, Green Chilly and keep all the things ready.
4.Now in a pan heat oil and add ginger, garlic and onion.Fry till onions turns brown.

5.Now add green chilli, half of the curry leaves and fry them for a minute.
6.Now add fennel seeds powder , half of the crushed pepper and garam Masala and mix well for a minute.

7.Add the marinated chicken, finely chopped tomato and salt to taste and mix and cover and cook in medium flame till the chicken is done.Do not add any water. Chicken and tomato together leaves enough water to cook the chicken.
8.When the Chicken is cooked, add remaining curry leaves and pepper powder and mix well.

9.Lastly add coconut milk on high flame and fry till it dries up or desired consistency of masala is reached.
10.Switch of the flame and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Pepper Chicken MasalaNote:
1.You can use Pepper powder too.But Freshly Crushed Pepper Tastes best.
2.Coconut Milk is Optional as I mentioned. But this gives best flavour to dish.Takes the dish to next level. Try to add it .

  2. This reminds me very much of a variation on Chettinad Chicken that I cook and I love it the heavy black pepper heat from it, so different to chili and a really nice complimentary flavour :)
